“Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. …” – Philippians 3:13-16 The Message
Have you ever climbed a mountain? It’s hard work. But if you press on, it is worth the effort. So it is with faith. Just fix your eyes on Jesus and press on.
“Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed…”
– Hebrews 12:1-2 The Message
Are You Struggling to Press On?
Living for Christ isn’t always easy, especially in high school. Between the pressure to play it cool and the genuine desire to just enjoy life, working hard to live like Christ isn’t something many guys strive for. Wouldn’t it be great if it were easy?
But Jesus said in this world we will have trouble – it won’t be easy – but we can take heart and press on because He has overcome the world. That’s something we can put stock in. Our faith that we are living for something bigger than ourselves should give us the strength we need to press on.
That’s true strength.
